Safety

The safeties are the last line of defense and usually help the cornerback with deep-pass coverage or linebacker with run plays. Generally, there are two safeties but it can have just one safeties depending the defensive formation. If there are two, there has the strong safety (SS) and the free safety (FS). The strong safety is the larger and the stronger of the two. He providing extra protection against run plays. The second, the free safety, is the smaller and faster safety and he helps cornerback on long pass plays.
